Two Arrested in Killing of KIU Student Linette Karunga in Bushenyi
Police in Bushenyi are holding two men suspected to have been involved in the murder of Kampala International University Western Campus student Linette Karunga, whose body was discovered on Monday night in Nyakashebeya Village. Investigators say the suspects, both believed to have been close to the deceased, are now assisting with inquiries.

Bushenyi District Police have arrested two men in connection with the killing of 21-year-old KIU Western Campus student Linette Karunga, who was found murdered in Nyakashebeya Village, Nyabubare Parish, Nyabubare Subcounty.

Greater Bushenyi regional police spokesperson SP Apollo Tayebwa identified the suspects as Onan Nimwesiga and another man only identified as Farouk.

Both men, he said, were allegedly boyfriends to the deceased and are now central to the early stages of the investigation.

Tayebwa said the suspects were being questioned to help police determine the circumstances leading to Karunga’s death.

“We have two suspects in custody who were close to the deceased, and they are assisting us as we work to establish what exactly happened. We appeal to anyone with relevant information to come forward. Public cooperation is key in helping us bring the perpetrator to justice,” he said.

Police have urged residents to remain calm and avoid speculation as investigations continue.
